Go NAPSACC
Go NAPSACC is a suite of services for state administrators and early childhood professionals seeking to provide high-quality early care and education (ECE) supportive of lifelong health and wellbeing.
Go NAPSACC is an update and expansion of NAP SACC (Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care), an evidence-based policy and environmental intervention that is highly regarded within the public health community and used by many states and internationally to support healthy eating and physical activity in young children.
At the core of Go NAPSACC are its evidence-based practices, derived from extensive reviews of authoritative guidelines and scientific literature. Evidence-based practices are provided for Child Nutrition, Breastfeeding & Infant Feeding, Oral Health, Farm to ECE, Infant & Child Physical Activity, Outdoor Play & Learning, and Screen Time.
Go NAPSACC provides customized implementation support and easy-to-use online tools framed around our 5-step quality improvement model. Using our tools, ECE programs assess and compare their current practices to evidence-based practices, set goals for improvement, and access educational and professional development resources to help them meet those goals.
Driven by Evidence Based Practice
Go NAPSACC is rooted in over two decades of research and has been recognized for its evidence-based impact. Based on what is currently known regarding strong evidence for impact on health, NAPSACC is the best value for money spent among strategies that focus on young children in early care and education settings. A White House report called NAPSACC a “model program” to promote healthy habits in early care and education programs. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Healthy Eating Research Group has labeled NAPSACC as showing the best evidence for reducing childhood obesity risk in children under age 5.
