Sofia De Oliveira, BSPH, BA
Research Assistant
Sofia joined the CHWR team in 2023 as Research Assistant. Sofia’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) in Nutrition and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Medical Anthropology, both from the University of North Carolina (UNC). Sofia has previously worked with the Global Food Research Program, where she was involved in global studies on front-of-package labeling policies and their impact on public health. She also contributed to the Carolina Hunger Initiative’s Cooking Matters for Kids program, helping to educate children on healthy cooking and nutrition practices. Sofia is committed to advancing her career in pediatric nutrition, focusing on creating healthier futures for children through research and community-based initiatives from a holistic and culturally sensitive perspective.

In her free time, Sofia likes to weightlift, read, go on walks/runs, and cook.
